The suspicious wagering activity that \u201cplagued college basketball over the previous two seasons — and ultimately led to a federal point-shaving indictment — has largely subsided this year,\u201d according to sources cited by David Purdum of ESPN.com. Sportsbooks detected \u201cfar fewer instances\u201d of suspicious betting and dramatic line movements this season compared with the previous two, when federal authorities say that a gambling ring \u201cwas bribing players as part of a point-shaving scheme.\u201d NCAA VP\/Enforcement Jon Duncan said, \u201cWe haven\u2019t had new, credible reports of games being compromised this season.\u201d The NCAA men\u2019s basketball tournament will tip off two months after a federal point-shaving indictment<\/a> was unsealed by the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
