Davis, 40, was released on Thursday, March 12, after serving 17 months for his role in a scheme to defraud the NBA’s Players’ Health and Welfare Benefit Plan, according to The Athletic<\/a>, New York Post<\/a> and TMZ<\/a>.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cHe used his time productively while serving his sentence and took many programs during that time,\u201d Davis\u2019 attorney, Brendan White, told The Athletic. \u201cHe\u2019s ready to become a productive member of society again.\u201d<\/p>\n Glen David in 2015 Not long after he was released from prison, the former NBA player was seen in a video on X<\/a>, saying, \u201cThey tried to hold me down. You know what I\u2019m saying? But I\u2019m back, man. I\u2019m back, baby.\u201d<\/p>\n Davis was convicted in November 2023 for defrauding the NBA’s Players’ Health and Welfare Benefit Plan for more than $5 million over the course of several years, according to The Athletic<\/a>.<\/p>\n The former Boston Celtics player was sentenced to serve three years and four months in prison. He was supposed to report to prison in September 2024, but a judge granted him a seven-week delay so that he would have more time to finish filming a documentary about his life.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n He was also ordered to pay back $80,000, and he is scheduled to have three years of supervision following this prison sentence.<\/p>\n Twenty-two people, including former NBA players and doctors, were charged in a conspiracy to defraud the league\u2019s benefits plan, ESPN<\/a> previously reported.<\/p>\n Following his imprisonment, the former NBA player will enter a halfway house to help him transition out of prison, according to The Athletic. During this time he will take financial management classes and drug treatment, which were mandated by his sentence, per the outlet.<\/p>\n He is scheduled to be released from the halfway house on July 9.<\/p>\n Glen Davis playing in the BIG3 league in 2019 Davis played for the NBA for eight years as a forward-center. He was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 2007 and won the\u00a02008 NBA Championship\u00a0with the team. He left the team and signed on with the Orlando Magic from 2011 to 2013.
