{"id":659606,"date":"2026-03-15T12:17:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-15T12:17:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/659606\/"},"modified":"2026-03-15T12:17:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-15T12:17:09","slug":"tristan-da-silva-jett-howard-step-up-for-orlando-magic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/659606\/","title":{"rendered":"Tristan da Silva, Jett Howard step up for Orlando Magic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIAMI \u2014 While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paolo Banchero<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Desmond Bane<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jalen Suggs<\/a> have served as driving forces behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Orlando<\/a>\u2018s success since the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA<\/a> All-Star break, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Magic<\/a> have also received a needed boost from elsewhere on the roster.<\/p>\n<p>In the 10 games since the league break entering Saturday\u2019s road matchup with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Heat<\/a>, second-year forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tristan da Silva<\/a> has averaged 13.5 points on 47.6% shooting from 3-point range alongside 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals during 31.3 minutes per night.<\/p>\n<p>In the past two games specifically against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cleveland<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Washington<\/a>, da Silva scored 23 and 26 points, respectively, while shooting a combined 6-for-14 from beyond the arc.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tell him all the time when he\u2019s out there (to) look for his shots (and) be aggressive,\u201d said Banchero, who also mentioned da Silva\u2019s poise on the court. \u201cI also think he\u2019s really stepped it up on defense, too, especially when we got back from break. He\u2019s really been guarding. So, I think his defense has been great and he\u2019s been making shots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Added Bane: \u201cHe hit a lot of big shots. He\u2019s playing out of his mind right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Help has also come off the bench from third-year pro <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jett Howard<\/a>, who\u2019s seen significant minutes in reserve while appearing in nine of the past 10 games since the break. Howard had only seen limited minutes in five of the 10 games leading up to the break.<\/p>\n<p>Entering Saturday, Howard averaged\u00a07.2 points on 40% from 3-point range with 2.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and half-a-block during 18.5 minutes per night in the last 10 games.<\/p>\n<p>Magic coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-folo-paolo-banchero-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-folo-analysis-miami-heat-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jamahl Mosley<\/a> shared why Howard has been able to play well despite not seeing the court as often earlier in the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell a big portion of it is that he stayed ready when he wasn\u2019t playing,\u201d Mosley said. \u201cWhen bodies go down, we ask the next man to step up (and) we do it by committee, but what Jett has done is that he\u2019s stayed consistent with his work ethic, knowing the game plan (and) understanding we need him to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Orlando will need more of the same from da Silva and Howard when the team travels to Atlanta on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Magic thankful for Isaac update<\/p>\n<p>Although <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-jonathan-isaac-injury-update-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-paolo-banchero-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jonathan Isaac<\/a> suffered a left knee sprain during Thursday\u2019s game against Washington, the Magic were relieved to learn that the injury wasn\u2019t worse than they initially feared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, I\u2019m glad it wasn\u2019t anything serious, but you still hate to see something like that happen to a guy who has been through so much,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/03\/13\/orlando-magic-washington-wizards-jonathan-isaac-injury-update-jalen-suggs-tristan-dasilva-paolo-banchero-nba-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wendell Carter Jr.<\/a> said. \u201cHe is) the ultimate teammate, the ultimate pro. Nothing he does affects this team in a negative way.
