{"id":664477,"date":"2026-03-18T07:59:57","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T07:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/664477\/"},"modified":"2026-03-18T07:59:57","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T07:59:57","slug":"what-fans-should-appreciate-about-these-inconsistent-knicks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/664477\/","title":{"rendered":"What fans should appreciate about these inconsistent Knicks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maybe it was like this back in the early \u201970s, in those years immediately following the first championship when the Knicks were still awfully good \u2014 good enough to win a second title in 1973, three years after the first one \u2014 but weren\u2019t nearly as dominant as they\u2019d been in 1970.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe in, say, 1972, when the Knicks struggled their way to \u201conly\u201d 48 wins, their fans paced nervously while watching (or, mostly, listening) along. Maybe the five-game losing streak they endured from Jan. 4 through Jan. 14 that year left people so disgusted that they declared, \u201cThat\u2019s it! I can\u2019t watch [or listen to] them anymore!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it was that way in 1994, too, when the Knicks lost four in a row and were playing poorly enough that Pat Riley scheduled a side trip to Reno between games in Phoenix and Sacramento to take their minds off the fact that they were a relatively pedestrian 36-19.
