{"id":667383,"date":"2026-03-19T19:17:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T19:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/667383\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T19:17:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T19:17:12","slug":"miami-heat-expected-to-waive-terry-rozier-before-playoffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/667383\/","title":{"rendered":"Miami Heat expected to waive Terry Rozier before playoffs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nba\/team-page\/miami-heat\/14\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nba\/team-page\/miami-heat\/14\" target=\"_blank\">Miami Heat<\/a> are expected to waive guard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nba\/player\/terry-rozier\/786293\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nba\/player\/terry-rozier\/786293\" target=\"_blank\">Terry Rozier<\/a> before the end of the regular season to create a roster spot for the team\u2019s playoff run, sources confirmed to ESPN.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Rozier has been away from the team since being arrested on Oct. 23 as part of a federal investigation into illegal gambling. The trade that brought him to Miami in January 2024 from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nba\/team-page\/charlotte-hornets\/5312\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nba\/team-page\/charlotte-hornets\/5312\" target=\"_blank\">Charlotte Hornets<\/a> was under scrutiny over whether the Heat should have been made aware of NBA and federal investigations into an alleged gambling conspiracy before the swap was completed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Hornets agreed to send a second-round pick in this June\u2019s NBA draft to Miami to resolve the dispute. Miami owes its 2027 first (lottery protected, which becomes an unprotected 2028 first if it doesn\u2019t convey) to Charlotte as part of the trade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Commissioner Adam Silver called it an \u201cunprecedented situation\u201d in a news conference at the NBA Cup in Las Vegas in December.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Rozier has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy charges of wire fraud and money laundering.
