A woman at a recent San Antonio Spurs<\/a> game was\u00a0put on blast<\/a> when a fellow attendee posted a video of her texting what many people consider a racist remark.<\/p>\n

At the Spurs game against the Phoenix Suns<\/a> on Thursday night, March 19, TikTok user @inluvwganineee shared a video of the woman \u2013 sitting in the lower level of the Frost Bank Center \u2013 responding to someone named “Chris” via text about the ethnic makeup of the crowd.<\/p>\n

The text Chris wrote to the woman was, “A lot of crazy Hispanic fans.” The woman can be seen writing back, “All Hispanic! How can they afford it.” The video cuts off before the woman sends the text.<\/p>\n

User @inluvwganineee posted the video with the text overlay, “If your gma (grandma) was at the game tonight, ew.” She also wrote in the caption, “‘How can they afford it’ is craaaazy. Someone come get your gma (grandma) fr (for real).” The song playing over the video is 2024’s “No Face” by Drake.<\/p>\n

The video, which has since been deleted from the original poster’s page, boasted 1.4 million views.<\/p>\n

Much like @inluvwganineee, other Spurs fans and social media users weren’t very happy to see the woman’s text, which many noted was typed in rather large font. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, San Antonio’s 1.5 million population is made up of 65% Latinos.<\/p>\n

“Not her saying that in SAN ANTONIO, TX!!!” wrote user @sanchez.monicadg.<\/p>\n

Another user, @hybridcarlos wrote, “Last time I checked it was the San Antonio Spurs, not the Saint Anthony Spurs.”<\/p>\n

Others were upset because the woman was stereotyping Latinos as an ethnicity who could not afford tickets to a Spurs game.<\/p>\n

On Instagram, user @nurse_marlyn wrote, “Lady, it’s 2026\u2026 you might be surprised what we’re capable of” while user @sanantoniostephanie wrote, “I can afford it because I work duuuuh\u2026She’s not very smart.”<\/p>\n

On her original post, some Latino Spurs fans even posted photos of themselves in lower-level sections of the arena enjoying their time with friends and family.<\/p>\n

The Spurs have one of the most diverse fan bases in the NBA, so this kind of behavior has no place in San Antonio. If anything, the backlash serves as a reminder that hate has no place in the Alamo City.<\/p>\n
