Noah Clowney was ruled out for Friday\u2019s game against the Knicks at Barclays Center because of a sprained right wrist. Nets<\/a> head coach Jordi Fern\u00e1ndez added that the third-year forward is expected to miss Sunday\u2019s road game against the Sacramento Kings as well.<\/p>\n

Clowney was removed from Wednesday\u2019s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a> because he was \u201creally sore,\u201d Fern\u00e1ndez said, and the team plans to reassess after the next game. The 21-year-old has averaged 12.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 62 games this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously I had to take him out because he was really sore,\u201d Fern\u00e1ndez said. \u201cAnd Noah, right away when I saw that he was in pain, I was like, \u2018Do you need a sub?\u2019 And I\u2019m like asking the guys to take a foul to be able to sub out, and I ended up calling a timeout. So, he was pretty sore. He has a sprained wrist. He\u2019ll be out tonight, most likely he\u2019ll be out next game, and then we\u2019ll go from there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fern\u00e1ndez referenced Day\u2019Ron Sharpe while explaining the team\u2019s approach when a player wants to play through an injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m asking Day\u2019Ron, I was like, \u2018You OK?\u2019 And he wanted to play through it, and then I had to take him out and take a look, and then he went back in, and all of a sudden, he needed to have surgery,\u201d Fern\u00e1ndez said.<\/p>\n

Fern\u00e1ndez also provided an update on forward Michael Porter Jr., who has been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain<\/a> and is scheduled to be re-evaluated in two to three weeks. Fern\u00e1ndez said the team will factor in a ramp-up period after the re-evaluation before Porter returns to full competition and said Porter\u2019s return before the end of the season cannot be predicted.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, so two to three weeks, and then obviously there\u2019s a ramp-up to go back to competition level, so we cannot predict, but it will be close,\u201d Fern\u00e1ndez said. \u201cSo, we\u2019re going to go through these two, three weeks and then put the work in and so forth, and then we\u2019ll see where we\u2019re at.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Sharpe, Fern\u00e1ndez said the center has undergone thumb surgery to repair the torn ligament.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe just went through his thumb surgery to fix that torn ligament, and against a team like this that\u2019s going to be extremely physical, we\u2019re going to miss him,\u201d Fern\u00e1ndez said. \u201cBut at the same time, it\u2019s that opportunity for others to focus on that.\u201d<\/p>\n
