{"id":671741,"date":"2026-03-22T01:36:22","date_gmt":"2026-03-22T01:36:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/671741\/"},"modified":"2026-03-22T01:36:22","modified_gmt":"2026-03-22T01:36:22","slug":"four-players-ejected-after-wild-thunder-wizards-brawl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/671741\/","title":{"rendered":"Four players ejected after wild Thunder-Wizards brawl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Things got heated during Saturday\u2019s Thunder-Wizards game.<\/p>\n<p>Following a made shot by Wizards forward Anthony Gill just seconds before halftime during Oklahoma City\u2019s 132-111 win in Washington, Justin Champagnie and Thunder big man Jaylin Williams got into it under the basket.<\/p>\n<p>Moments later, Oklahoma City guard Ajay Mitchell got between the two and was subsequently shoved in the face by Champagnie, which then quickly descended into an all-out brawl between the two teams.<\/p>\n<p>It took nearly a minute for officials and staff from both teams to eventually break up the fight, which leaked into the stands behind the basket.<\/p>\n<p>The fiery altercation resulted in the ejections of Mitchell, Williams, Champagnie, and Thunder shooting guard Cason Wallace.<\/p>\n<p>It is still unclear if those four players will receive any additional punishment from either the NBA or their respective teams.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.96168582;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38856019\" width=\"1024\" height=\"522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Screenshot-2026-03-21-at-7.39.40\u202fPM.png\" alt=\"Basketball players in gold and white uniforms involved in a scuffle on the court.\" class=\"wp-image-38856019\"  \/>It took nearly a minute for officials and staff from both teams to eventually break up the fight ClutchPoints on X<\/p>\n<p>Saturday\u2019s victory marked the Thunder\u2019s 56th win, the most in the NBA this season.<\/p>\n<p>Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has led the way for Oklahoma City again this year, averaging 31.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.6 assists while shooting 55.1 percent from the field through 58 games.<\/p>\n<p>Gilgeous-Alexander is in the running for his second straight MVP award, and recently expressed his desire to take home the honors again.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38856026\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/oklahoma-city-thunder-guard-shai-124160665.jpg\" alt=\"Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander holding guard Ajay Mitchell as staff step in during a scuffle.\" class=\"wp-image-38856026\"  \/>Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, center grabs teammate guard Ajay Mitchell after a brawl during the Thunder\u2019s 132-111 blowout win over the Wizards on March 21, 2026, in Washington. AP<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you ask every NBA player that\u2019s ever played the game of basketball, they all want to win,\u201d Gilgeous-Alexander said earlier this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/shai-gilgeous-alexander-shrugs-off-free-throw-criticism-in-bid-for-second-straight-mvp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according to Sports Illustrated<\/a>. \u201cNow the difference is you can\u2019t just say it, you got to go out there and do it. You got to go out there and be the most valuable player in the world in the best league in the world, and do it night in, night out. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd you can say it as much as you want. At the end of the day, you got to put the pens to the paper and be it.
