{"id":67327,"date":"2025-05-31T02:18:11","date_gmt":"2025-05-31T02:18:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/67327\/"},"modified":"2025-05-31T02:18:11","modified_gmt":"2025-05-31T02:18:11","slug":"maine-native-unh-star-ruth-white-advances-to-ncaa-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/67327\/","title":{"rendered":"Maine Native, UNH Star Ruth White Advances to NCAA Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Distance runner Ruth White of Orono, Maine, is headed to the NCAA Championships after placing sixth in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA East First Round on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>By finishing in the top 12 out of a field of 48 runners, the University of New Hampshire freshman qualifies for the June 12 final at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>The former Orono High School star finished with a time of 32:50.17, breaking her own UNH record of 32:57.83.<\/p>\n<p>Ruth&#8217;s New Hampshire school records<\/p>\n<p>The old record was set at the America East Championships, where she won a gold medal and was named the event&#8217;s Most Outstanding Rookie.<\/p>\n<p>She previously set the school record with a time of 33:27.57 at the Black &amp; Gold Invitational.<\/p>\n<p>She also won gold and set a school record in the 5,000-meter run at the New England Championships, running 16:22.78.<\/p>\n<p>Ruth&#8217;s high school career at Orono<\/p>\n<p>Ruth won multiple Gatorade Athlete of the Year awards and state championships as a member of the Orono High School cross country and track and field teams.<\/p>\n<p>She initially signed a national letter of intent with Boise State University.<\/p>\n<p>However, Ruth was granted permission to decommit due to a coaching change at BSU, and she later committed to the UNH Wildcats.<\/p>\n<p>Read More: <a href=\"https:\/\/929theticket.com\/ruth-white-commits-to-attend-university-of-new-hampshire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Orono Runner Ruth White to Attend the University of New Hampshire<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place from Wednesday, June 11, through Saturday, June 14, with both the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s championships being held simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p>The championships will air on the ESPN family of networks.<\/p>\n<p>Here Are All the Awards Maine&#8217;s Cooper Flagg Won at Duke<\/p>\n<p>Newport native Cooper Flagg had one of the best freshman seasons we have ever seen in college basketball.
