The NBA<\/a> community is speaking out following one fan\u2019s racist text aimed at Hispanic people who were cheering on the San Antonio Spurs<\/a> at a recent game.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, a woman appeared to use her phone to respond to someone who addressed the \u201ccrazy Hispanic fans\u201d at the Spurs\u2019 playoff-clinching win<\/a> over the Phoenix Suns, per a viral TikTok clip<\/a> shot by @inluvwganineee.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll Hispanic! How can they afford it,\u201d read a message purportedly written by the woman in the video.<\/p>\n

The clip swiftly caught the attention of the San Antonio Spurs, an organization that\u2019s notably based in a city with a majority Hispanic\/Latino population.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of us in the Spurs organization are proud to live in San Antonio, a city that shines and thrives because of the culture and contributions of our Latino community,\u201d the Spurs wrote in a statement<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cInclusion is a foundation for the San Antonio Spurs. We strive to provide an environment, in our facilities and across our community, that celebrates belonging and respect regardless of race or ethnicity. Por Vida.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spurs guard De\u2019Aaron Fox reacted to the clip over the weekend, as well, telling reporters that he went to a Texas high school that was \u201c60% Hispanic.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cSo for someone to complain about that, especially being in San Antonio, I don\u2019t know why that would make any sense. But this should be normalized,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re going to see people that don\u2019t look the same as you, that probably have a different accent as you. So, at this point, you would think it would be normal. But to each their own.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several fans in Texas and beyond on TikTok responded to the text by sharing snaps of their game day views from arena suites and other seats close to the NBA action.<\/p>\n

\u201cdamn right we can afford it\u2728,\u201d replied TikToker @itsvalcarter, who uploaded a snap of her with a drink just feet from Spurs home court at Frost Bank Center.<\/p>\n

Sports writer and Spurs fan Shea Serrano proudly took to X, as well, writing<\/a>, \u201clegally changing my name to Crazy Hispanic Fan.\u201d<\/p>\n

By the time that the Spurs took their home court again to play the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, X users reported seeing<\/a> scores<\/a> of<\/a> fans<\/a> \u2014 including members of the San Antonio Jackals supporters section \u2014 rocking several iterations of shirts that read \u201cCrazy Hispanic Fan\u201d in the San Antonio arena.<\/p>\n

The Jackals, in a post to X<\/a> showing a number of members donning \u201cCrazy Hispanic Fan\u201d tees, stressed that the group does not tolerate \u201cany discrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat being said, we will not give power to the ignorant. We are proud of our heritage, our cultura, and our city. There\u2019s a reason our hashtag is #PorVida. So yeah, we are crazy Hispanic fans, but don\u2019t think for a second that\u2019s an insult,\u201d the group wrote in the post on Saturday.<\/p>\n
