OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Creighton men\u2019s basketball head coach Greg McDermott announced his retirement Monday morning.<\/p>\n
McDermott said he will retire<\/a> after the team\u2019s final game in the College Basketball Crown tournament next week, according to a release.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cIt has been an incredible honor to lead the Creighton men\u2019s basketball program for the past 16 years,\u201d said McDermott in a release. \u201cI\u2019m very proud of the young men that have proudly worn the Bluejay uniform and represented our program in a first-class manner. Witnessing their growth and development on and off the playing floor was especially gratifying.\u201d<\/p>\n The team shared a video for McDermott on social media with the caption, \u201cYou made this place better. Thank you, Coach.\u201d<\/p>\n He led the team for 16 years.<\/p>\n Alan Huss will be promoted to the head coach position.
