These days, sports journalists are starting younger than ever. All jokes aside, it seems that star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum has a budding reporter in his family. His son Deuce has recently penned <\/a>a report for SLAM on his father’s recovery from the Achilles tendon injury he sustained in the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs.<\/p>\n

No word on whether the younger Tatum had any help assembling his thoughts into an article, but there are a number of passages worth the investment nonetheless. “When Daddy first got injured, I felt sad,” began Deuce. “To try to make him happy, I would give him a hug or tell my brother Dylan to come over and cuddle with him.”<\/p>\n

“I\u2019d ask my dad what he was sad about and give him ideas on other things to do instead of doing whatever he\u2019s sad about,” he added.<\/p>\n

“I remember after his big surgery, he would sit down on the couch, resting his foot on this pillow sort of thing, because he couldn’t put his foot down,” recalled the younger Tatum.<\/p>\n

“He had his foot in a cast, and he was walking around with this little thing that he would put his knee on and roll around, or, he was walking with crutches. He was going to his room, taking showers\u2014he was trying to get back in the game as fast as he could.”<\/p>\n
