NEW ORLEANS \u2014 Percy “Master P” Miller has ended his one-year “unpaid” role as president of basketball operations and assistant coach at the University of New Orleans.<\/p>\n
Miller, a rap mogul and New Orleans native, joined UNO last year to support the struggling program and help mentor student-athletes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Under his involvement, the team improved from a 4-27 record to 15-18 and upgraded facilities, including a refreshed practice gym and locker room. In an Instagram statement, Miller said he helped secure a $1.3 million jumbotron through a donor.<\/p>\n
Miller said his year-long commitment had been fulfilled. “I am truly humbled and honored to have been blessed with the opportunity to play a small role in these students\u2019 lives,” he wrote.<\/p>\n
Miller said his work went beyond basketball. He aimed to boost student enrollment, provide mentorship, and improve the basketball program.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s always been about the City of New Orleans, giving back to our community, creating future leaders and making a real difference, not just with words and good intentions but with ACTION,” he said.<\/p>\n
