The Miami Heat managed to finally end their losing streak in their previous game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Unfortunately for the Heat, they had to play against the Cavs again on Friday, which was not a good result for them.

Miami lost 149-128, which is one of the worst results of the season for the Heat. After the game, Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra voiced out his displeasure with his players’ performances, which is not a good look moving forward.

Spoelstra admits the Heat are playing unacceptable basketball as of late

Earlier in March, Spoelstra started to demand more grit from his players. He likely felt that the energy was dipping from his players, which is sub-optimal for the most important time of the season for their postseason hopes.

It was working well for Miami just a few weeks ago when they were on a lengthy winning streak. They were even in the automatic Playoff spots in the Eastern Conference, but their recent losing streak was a proverbial nail in the coffin.

While they broke that streak earlier this week with an impressive win against the Cavaliers, their second consecutive game against Cleveland did not pan out well.

In fact, it was a humiliating blowout loss that Spoelstra is unhappy about. Moving forward, Spoelstra wants more from his team as they have been playing bad basketball recently.

“It’s extremely disappointing. We put in the time. The guys have put in blood, sweat, and tears to develop a top-four defense two weeks ago. When we need it the most is when we let it disappear. It’s unacceptable at this time,” Spoelstra said after the loss to Cleveland.

As the Heat progress this season ahead of the Play-In Tournament, Spoelstra wants his team to focus on their task. It is not a good look that they are crumbling at the moment, as the expectations are high for their postseason performances.
