Bronny James<\/a> played his part in the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>\u2019 116-99 win<\/a> over the Brooklyn Nets<\/a> on Friday night.<\/p>\n

James checked into the game in the second quarter to knock down his only triple of the night. It was a historic three for the 21-year-old because it was assisted by his dad, LeBron James<\/a>. This marked the first father-to-son assist<\/a> in NBA<\/a> history.<\/p>\n

Bronny James finished with three points on 1-of-2 shooting in four minutes of action. It was another brief appearance from the 6-foot- 2 shooting guard, but it was enough to help lift the Lakers to another win. <\/p>\n

Lakers head coach JJ Redick spoke to reporters after the game to discuss his team\u2019s performance. When asked about James, the second-year coach admitted that he had to tweak his game plan against the Nets.<\/p>\n

“We had to put Bronny in even though he wasn’t scheduled to be in the second quarter,\u201d Redick said<\/a>. \u201c…I’m really happy with where he’s at and where he’s going as a player.”<\/p>\n

Redick\u2019s unexpected decision to bring in James in the first half stems from the fact that the Lakers\u2019 backcourt was shorthanded on Friday night. Marcus Smart was out of action for a third straight game due to an ankle injury. This led to some minutes for James, who took advantage of his opportunity.<\/p>\n

Entering Friday\u2019s contest, James has averaged just 2.1 points and 1.2 assists in 7.2 minutes per contest. However, he could be in line for more playing time if Smart continues to be sidelined.<\/p>\n

The Lakers\u2019 next game is on Monday against the Washington Wizards<\/a>. They improved to 48-26 and remain third in the Western Conference.<\/p>\n
