Dwyane Wade fired back at Patrick Beverley with a GIF in their ongoing public chat.<\/p>\n
To set the scene, Beverley said on his podcast<\/a> that Cleveland Cavaliers guard James Harden is a “better player” than Wade.<\/p>\n “I eff with D-Wade, that’s the homie,”\u00a0Beverley said<\/a>, per Tomer Azarly<\/a> of ClutchPoints. “But when it comes to a player \u2014 like, you’re talking about a player that can score it, a player that can get to the free-throw line, a player that can pass it out of the pick-and-roll. A lot of people were going under on D-Wade’s pick-and-rolls. I ain’t gon’ front, you feel me? A lot of people were letting D-Wade have that.<\/p>\n “Yes, does D-Wade have a clutch gene? You’re absolutely right. Yes, at times have we seen D-Wade be more clutch than James Harden? Yes we have. But when we talk about a better player \u2014 like, a better player \u2014 James Harden is a better player than Dwyane Wade. And people get it confused because they think about D-Wade wont a championship and you cant take that away, but a championship is a team thing. That’s a team award. I’m talking about individual award. Who is a better player. And individually, you have to go with James Harden. No disrespect to [Allen Iverson] and Dwyane Wade, I don’t even think it’s close. I think James Harden really might be one of the best scorers this game has ever seen. I think we need to applaud that.”<\/p>\n Wade fired back on his own podcast<\/a> (h\/t NBA Courtside<\/a>).<\/p>\n “You experienced a portion of my game, when I was winning championships you weren’t even around. You didn’t get to feel the wrath. My career was hit by injuries and I still had a top-75 career. You don’t know the wrath of me as a player you know a portion, and you still couldn’t f–k with me then.”<\/p>\n Beverley then had this to say to Wade on X, leading to the Basketball Hall of Famer’s GIF.<\/p>\n Beverley was a good player in his own right thanks to his tenacity, defensive efforts and three-point skills. He went undrafted out of Arkansas, played overseas for three years and carved out a 12-year NBA career. By any measure, he’s a tremendous success and a model for young players who want to make it in the league but are less heralded than others.<\/p>\n Wade, of course, was a phenomenal player as evidenced by 13 All-Star Games, 3 NBA championships, eight All-NBA teams and a spot on the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team. He’s a Miami Heat legend who was the best player on the 2005-06 championship team, and he averaged 22.0 PPG over 16 seasons. Wade was a well-deserved first ballot Hall of Famer, and he’s arguably one of the top 10 NBA players of the 21st century.<\/p>\n
