The first bit of player movement for Syracuse men\u2019s basketball under new head coach Gerry McNamara is here.<\/p>\n

Freshman wing Aaron Womack plans to enter the transfer portal, according to a report by Syracuse.com<\/a>. Womack, who was an off-the-radar signing<\/a> in Syracuse\u2019s 2025 recruiting class, redshirted<\/a> this past season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just a worker,\u201d Womack said in October<\/a> at Syracuse media day. \u201cI come in the gym every day and I can shoot. I can defend, do whatever the team needs me to do to win. So whatever coach asks me to do I always do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s super talented,\u201d former Syracuse head coach Adrian Autry said of Womack after defeating Drexel in November. \u201cWe just have to figure out what\u2019s the best decision for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

It turned out that the decision was to redshirt.<\/p>\n

A Milwaukee native, Womack was brought to Syracuse by Autry and his staff, including general manager Alex Kline and his lead recruiter, Allen Griffin.<\/p>\n

At 6-foot-6, Womack was a three-star recruit with mid-major offers before Syracuse jumped in. He committed immediately after his visit in September 2024.<\/p>\n

In high school, Womack surpassed former Maryland and Los Angeles Clippers big man Diamond Stone as the all-time leading scorer at Dominican High School, with over 2,200 points. He averaged 28.8 points per game in his senior year of high school. He played for the Wisconsin Playground Club on the Under Armour circuit.<\/p>\n

Syracuse.com reported that Womack met \u201cbriefly\u201d with new head coach Gerry McNamara last week, which \u201csolidified\u201d his plan to transfer.<\/p>\n

SU still has eight (nine if you include Calvin Russell, ten if you include Russell and Noah Lobdell) potential returners for next season. Additionally, Nate Kingz might be eligible<\/a> for a Pavia waiver to return as well. It remains to be seen which other Orange players will hit the transfer portal, and who McNamara and his staff want to bring in.<\/p>\n
