{"id":690526,"date":"2026-03-31T20:26:03","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T20:26:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/690526\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T20:26:03","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T20:26:03","slug":"former-knicks-star-amare-stoudemire-earns-hof-induction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/690526\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Knicks Star Amar&#8217;e Stoudemire Earns HOF Induction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"780\" height=\"439\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/GettyImages-459542546-e1774987725702.jpg\" class=\"attachment-featured-image size-featured-image wp-post-image\" alt=\"Amar'e Stoudemire\"   decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGetty\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Amar&#8217;e Stoudemire will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball HOF<\/p>\n<p>Former <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/new-york-knicks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Knicks<\/a> star Amar\u2019e Stoudemire is among the inductees for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ShamsCharania\/status\/2039037531417612295?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">class of 2026<\/a>, according to ESPN\u2019s Shams Charania.<\/p>\n<p>Stoudemire is joined by Candace Parker, Elena Delle Donne and Doc Rivers, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Drafted straight out of high school, Stoudemire arrived in <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/phoenix-suns\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Phoenix<\/a> as the No. 9 overall pick in 2002. The hyper-athletic forward went on to win Rookie of the Year before earning an All-NBA First-Team selection in 2007 and All-NBA Second-Team nods in 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Stoudemire ranks seventh in points (11,035), third in rebounds (4,613) and fifth in blocks (722) on the Suns\u2019 all-time leaderboard. He finished sixth in MVP voting in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>His success carried over to the Big Apple when he joined the Knicks.<\/p>\n<p>Knicks Great Stoudemire Earns HOF Nod<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5871589\" class=\"size-large wp-image-5871589\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/GettyImages-459542538-e1774987521880.jpg\" alt=\"Amar'e Stoudemire\" width=\"780\" height=\"438\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5871589\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyAmar\u2019e Stoudemire played five seasons with the New York Knicks<\/p>\n<p>Stoudemire signed a 5-year, $99.7 million contract with the Knicks on July 5, 2010, via a sign-and-trade with the Suns. The deal, finalized on July 9, 2010, cost the Knicks a protected future second-round draft selection.<\/p>\n<p>Stoudemire wasted no time establishing himself as a star in New York.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2010-11 <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/\" title=\"NBA\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"210547\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA<\/a> season, his first with the team, Stoudemire set a Knicks franchise record by scoring 30 or more points in nine consecutive games. This streak occurred in December 2010, breaking the previous team record of seven consecutive 30-point games set by Willie Naulls in 1962.<\/p>\n<p>Through five seasons with the Knicks, Stoudemire averaged 17.3 points on 51 percent shooting. He added 6.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.<\/p>\n<p>After flourishing in Phoenix as Steve Nash\u2019s pick-and-roll mate, Stoudemire proved he could thrive as a first option, too.<\/p>\n<p>He averaged 25.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game in his first season \u2014 and lone All-Star nod \u2014 with New York.<\/p>\n<p>Stoudemire Told Knicks to Recruit Carmelo Anthony<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5871593\" class=\"size-large wp-image-5871593\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/GettyImages-136060506-e1774987644185.jpg\" alt=\"Amar'e Stoudemire\" width=\"780\" height=\"440\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5871593\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyAmar\u2019e Stoudemire helped recruit Carmelo Anthony to New York<\/p>\n<p>Upon signing a massive deal with the New York Knicks back in 2010, Stoudmire immediately began to look for a co-star. STAT says he talked Knicks owner James Dolan <a href=\"http:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/1998149-amare-stoudemire-reflects-his-knicks-journey-the-tough-times-and-whats-next\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">into going after Carmelo Anthony<\/a>. Per\u00a0Bleacher Report:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[New York] was a forbidden place [for free agents], and I took the chance to come here. And Mr. Dolan took the chance on signing me, so we had a great marriage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also knew that I needed a star teammate. That\u2019s something I talked to Mr. Dolan about when I signed. My ultimate goal my first year in New York was really to set the tone from a winning standpoint, and then to bring in players that were going to help capitalize and build on that. I mentioned a few players to Mr. Dolan who would be fun to play with, and Melo was one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In February 2011, Dolan and the Knicks granted Stoudemire\u2019s wish. New York acquired Carmelo Anthony from the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/denver-nuggets\/\" title=\"Denver Nuggets\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"210546\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Denver Nuggets<\/a> in one of the biggest trades in NBA history.<\/p>\n<p>The blockbuster deal involved three teams, 12 players, and multiple draft picks to Denver to pair Anthony with Stoudemire.<\/p>\n<p>The All-Star combo of Anthony and Stoudemire represented one of the most potent duos in NBA history.<\/p>\n<p>The Knicks made the playoffs in each of Stoudemire\u2019s first three seasons with the team, including storied battles against the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/boston-celtics\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Celtics<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/miami-heat\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miami Heat<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/author\/justjalyn1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jalyn Smoot<\/a> Jalyn Smoot is a sports journalist covering the NBA for Heavy.com.
