Following a series of controversial comments, NBA veteran Jaden Ivey was cut loose by the Chicago Bulls<\/a> on Monday, March 30.<\/p>\n

As the former Detroit Pistons<\/a> guard hits the NBA free agency market, a critical contract update for Ivey surfaced.<\/p>\n

via Mike Vorkunov, The Athletic<\/a>: Jaden Ivey will receive his full $10.1 million salary this season even after the Chicago Bulls waived the guard for what they called \u201cconduct detrimental to the team,\u201d according to sources briefed on the matter.<\/p>\n

Ivey, 24, was in the midst of his fourth NBA season.<\/p>\n

Recently, Ivey was ruled out for the remainder of the 2025-2026 NBA season due to knee concerns.<\/p>\n

Since getting traded to the Bulls back in February, Ivey has appeared in just four games.<\/p>\n

While the Bulls planned to keep Ivey on board as he rehabs from his injury, comments made by the former first-round pick on Instagram live went viral and were deemed controversial.<\/p>\n

After the Bulls\u2019 decision to waive Ivey was announced, key members of the organization made statements on the situation. Here\u2019s what Bulls head coach Billy Donovan had to say:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s a certain level of standards and expectations that are here. I mean, we have people from all different walks of life working in the building and players from all different walks of life, right? So, the first thing is, everybody comes with their own personal experiences. But one is, we\u2019ve got to all be professional. I think there\u2019s got to be a high level of respect for one another, and we got to help each other and then be accountable to those standards.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ivey was already four seasons in. When he initially signed his rookie deal with the Pistons, Ivey was slated to earn $32.95 million over four years.<\/p>\n

Last season, the Pistons had a $7.97 million club option for Ivey. This year\u2019s number was set at $10.10 million. Ivey will complete his deal, but there won\u2019t be any qualifying offers coming his way.<\/p>\n

Numbers-wise, Ivey was doing well enough to be in line for a notable payday.<\/p>\n

Over four seasons in Detroit, Ivey averaged 14.9 points while shooting 35.4% from three. Before going down with a season-ending injury in 2024-2025, Ivey was posting averages of 17.6 points, on 40.9% shooting from deep.<\/p>\n

When he got to the Bulls, Ivey produced 11.5 points and 4.0 assists per game, while hitting on 38.1% of his threes.<\/p>\n

Ivey is unlikely to find a landing spot before the end of the 2025-2026 regular season. The veteran guard will have to focus on the free agency market in July.<\/p>\n
