{"id":690939,"date":"2026-04-01T01:00:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T01:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/690939\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T01:00:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T01:00:19","slug":"former-philadelphia-76ers-head-coach-headed-to-basketball-hall-of-fame-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/690939\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Philadelphia 76ers head coach headed to Basketball Hall of Fame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/nba\/philadelphia-76ers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> head coach is headed to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was revealed by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ShamsCharania\/status\/2039037531417612295\" rel=\"nofollow\">ESPN&#8217;s Shams Charania<\/a> that Doc Rivers will be part of the Hall&#8217;s 2026 class, which also includes\u00a0Amar&#8217;e Stoudemire, Candace Parker, Elena Delle Donne and Mark Few.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rivers, who is the current coach of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/nba\/milwaukee-bucks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Milwaukee Bucks<\/a>, coached the 76ers for three seasons from 2020 to 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The Sixers had a winning percentage greater than 62 in each of Rivers&#8217; three seasons, and they also lost in the Eastern Conference semifinals each season under Rivers.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, the Sixers decided to move on from Rivers and hired Nick Nurse, who is currently on the hot seat at the end of his third season in Philadelphia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Sixers and Bucks, Rivers also coached the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/nba\/orlando-magic\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Orlando Magic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/nba\/boston-celtics\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Celtics<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/nba\/los-angeles-clippers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Clippers<\/a>. He has the sixth-most regular season wins and fourth-most playoff wins in NBA history, and he led the Celtics to an NBA title in 2008.
