The New York Knicks<\/a> are the toast of the town again, and point guard Jalen Brunson<\/a> is king. However, one person who has a bittersweet affection for the top 10 NBA scorer at 26.3 points per game, is Martha Stewart.\u00a0<\/a>In fact, she\u2019s all broken up about the diminutive dynamo.<\/p>\n

Stewart reportedly confronted Brunson a year after he crashed into the lifestyle mogul and good friend of rapper Snoop Dogg<\/a> while she lounged courtside at Madison Square Garden on May 21, 2025. These kinds of interactions happen all of the time between celebrities and players diving into the stands.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jalen Brunson Breaks Martha Stewart\u2019s Toe <\/p>\n

The crash resulted in a broken toe for Stewart, who recently appeared on Brunson\u2019s podcast and recalled the painful interaction. She also revealed that Brunson has since apologized to her and gifted her a signed basketball to give to her grandson.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stewart had something funny to say about that.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll I got out of it was a signed basketball for my grandchild,\u201d she joked.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Appearing on Brunson\u2019s podcast, \u201cThe Roommate Show,\u201d alongside his teammate and co-host Josh Hart<\/a>, Stewart reflected on that courtside collision and also shared a current update. As they showed a clip of her discussing the incident with Jimmy Fallon back in 2025, Brunson is clearly regretful and a bit embarrassed as he covers his face and shakes his head. Hart, of course, lives to make Brunson uncomfortable, so this was a golden moment for him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou didn\u2019t know. It\u2019s not your fault, it\u2019s my fault for wearing open-toe shoes to a basketball game,\u201d said Stewart, who also spoke to the excruciating pain she immediately felt when Brunson crashed into her on the sidelines.<\/p>\n

Martha Stewart Says Her Open-Toe Shoes Were To Blame For Broken Toe, Not Brunson\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stewart was quick to acquit the three-time NBA All-Star of any blame. Brunson apologized immediately after the incident that went down during the Knicks\u2019 135-138 loss to the Indiana Pacers in overtime, prior to knowing that he also broke Martha\u2019s toe. Stewart blames her fashion choices, and she knows better now.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSee those open-toe shoes? Never, ever wear open-toe shoes to a game like that when you\u2019re sitting on the floor,\u201d Stewart said on the show. \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m wearing open-toe shoes 1775042194, because that\u2019s the only kind of shoes I can wear now.\u201d<\/p>\n

If that wasn\u2019t enough, Stewart added that because the game went into overtime, she \u201ccouldn\u2019t get up and leave to go take care of my toe,\u201d which made things \u201cmore painful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart also shared some observations about Brunson after being in close physical proximity.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t sweat\u2026 your arm was cold,\u201d Stewart told Brunson on the podcast. \u201cYou had fallen, and you jumped up really fast. I remember saying to you, \u2018It\u2019s OK.\u2019 You had no idea that you had hurt me. I didn\u2019t say you hurt me, but I said, \u2018It\u2019s OK\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart Said She Was Ok, But She Wasn\u2019t\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t OK at all,\u201d Stewart added with a laugh.<\/p>\n

She found out how severe it was when she trekked to the Hospital of Special Surgery (HSS) on the Upper East Side of Manhattan after the game concluded to get her toe examined by a pro.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve named it the \u2018Stewart-Brunson fracture,\u2019 \u201d she shared. \u201cI have an X-ray, I\u2019m going to leave you a picture of it\u2026 it was actually a break, so anyways, it\u2019s better now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart is always dressed to the nines, but next time she will dress for the moment. <\/p>\n

\u201cI look back at it as just something silly, stupid and funny,\u201d she said, adding, \u201cIt was stupid of me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some fans have never heard this story, but Stewart first let the world know that the Knicks superstar broke her toe when she appeared on \u201cThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon\u201d in December 2025. She says it occurred during the last five minutes of the Knicks-Pacers game in May.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
