Conservatives erupted online in support of NBA star Jaden Ivey after the Chicago Bulls waived<\/a> the shooting guard Monday following his public anti-LGBTQ outcry<\/a> and comments about religion.<\/p>\n

The NBA player went on to claim that Satan wants to \u201cto keep people in sin\u201d and for people to \u201ckeep being gay\u201d or \u201ckeep being a lesbian.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGod did not make a man to be with a man. God did not make a girl to be with a girl,\u201d Ivey said. \u201cGod made a man for the purpose of procreation, to have another child. How else? How can a woman? How can a woman bear a child with a woman?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

When the Chicago Bulls announced they were parting ways with Ivey, some conservative personalities claimed the basketball player was being punished for his Christian faith.<\/p>\n

OutKick\u2019s Riley Gaines<\/a>, who transitioned to right-wing activism after tying for fifth place<\/a>\u00a0at the NCAA Women\u2019s Championships with a trans swimmer, defended him online.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe live in a world that hates Christ and those who believe in Him, but that\u2019s to be expected. Just as He was persecuted, so will we be,\u201d Gaines said on X.<\/a> \u201cConsider me a Jaden Ivey fan.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to The New York Times<\/a>, Ivey will still receive his full $10.1 million salary this season.<\/p>\n

A source within Ivey\u2019s former team\u00a0told The Chicago Sun-Times<\/a>, it wasn\u2019t just the player\u2019s opinions on the LGBTQ issue that got him waived, but rather an accumulation of posts and comments that started last month.<\/p>\n

Following the controversy, sports commentator Stephen A. Smith, who occasionally gives political insight, says the Bulls are \u201cperfectly within their rights\u201d to waive the player.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have a right to be picky about who they want representing their brand and their product,\u201d\u00a0 Smith said Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n
