The 2025-2026 NBA season is winding down, and the Washington Wizards<\/a> have yet to see their star acquisition, Anthony Davis, on the court.<\/p>\n For a long time, the assumption has been that Davis would take the remainder of the season off to rehab his hand injury. He would start fresh with the Wizards in 2026-2027.<\/p>\n The Wizards wouldn\u2019t commit to that idea. Davis\u2019 recovery continues to progress as expected and is healing on schedule. He has been cleared for light contact as he progresses toward his full return. Updates will be provided as appropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n ANTHONY DAVIS INJURY UPDATE <\/p>\n Davis, 33, joined the Wizards ahead of the NBA\u2019s 2026 trade deadline.<\/p>\n Anthony Davis\u2019 Run In The NBA<\/p>\n A little over one year after being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> to the Dallas Mavericks, Davis was dealt to Washington. The Wizards plan to turn around their rebuild with Davis and Trae Young as the new faces of the franchise.<\/p>\n During his 20-game run in 2025-2026, Davis averaged 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He also came up with 1.1 steals per game and 1.7 blocks per game.<\/p>\n When Davis entered the league in 2012, he was the top prospect coming out of Kentucky. Davis was selected by the Pelicans<\/a>.<\/p>\n For seven seasons, Davis starred for the Pelicans. He had a lot of personal success, but the team frequently came up short.<\/p>\n The Los Angeles Lakers acquired Davis ahead of the 2019-2020 season. That was the start of a six-year run with the Lakers. During Davis\u2019 first season in LA, the star forward won his first and only NBA Championship.<\/p>\n In 2024-2025, Davis was a headliner in one of the most stunning NBA trades in recent times. He was sent to Dallas, who sent out Luka Doncic. At the time, Doncic wasn\u2019t known to be on the block. Ultimately, the Mavericks cut their losses.
