The Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> will again be without Marcus Smart<\/a> as they prepare for a key road matchup against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a> on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Smart has been officially ruled out<\/a> for a sixth consecutive game due to a right ankle contusion, extending a stretch of absence that has coincided with one of the Lakers\u2019 strongest runs of the season.<\/p>\n

Despite missing a key defensive presence, Los Angeles enters the matchup riding a four-game winning streak and continuing to solidify its position near the top of the Western Conference standings.<\/p>\n

Lakers Continue to Roll Without Smart\"Marcus<\/p>\n

The Lakers\u2019 latest win came in a 127\u2013113 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> on Tuesday night, a game that showcased their offensive depth and balance.<\/p>\n

Luka Doncic<\/a> led the way with 42 points and 12 assists, marking his 16th 40-point performance of the season.<\/p>\n

Deandre Ayton<\/a> added 18 points and nine rebounds, while Austin Reaves<\/a> contributed 19 points.<\/p>\n

LeBron James<\/a>, Jake LaRavia<\/a> and Rui Hachimura<\/a> each scored 14 points as the Lakers improved to 50 wins on the season.<\/p>\n

The victory also marked the franchise\u2019s first stretch of back-to-back 50-win seasons since a four-year run from 2007 to 2011.<\/p>\n

LaRavia Stepping Into Larger Role<\/p>\n

With Smart sidelined, LaRavia has stepped into the starting lineup and begun to carve out a consistent role.<\/p>\n

The fourth-year wing delivered one of his most efficient performances of the season against Cleveland, finishing with 14 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting, along with seven rebounds and a steal in 38 minutes.<\/p>\n

During his five-game stint as a starter, LaRavia is averaging 6.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 0.8 assists while shooting an eye-catching 76.5% from the field.<\/p>\n

While that efficiency is unlikely to be sustained, his defensive activity and versatility have helped stabilize the rotation in Smart\u2019s absence.<\/p>\n

Even as the Lakers continue to win, Smart\u2019s absence remains notable.<\/p>\n

The veteran guard has been a key contributor on the defensive end this season, bringing leadership, physicality and perimeter resistance.<\/p>\n

His ability to disrupt opposing guards and anchor point-of-attack defense has been a critical part of Los Angeles\u2019 identity.<\/p>\n

Without him, the Lakers have relied more heavily on team defense and offensive firepower to compensate.<\/p>\n

Maintaining that cushion will be critical as the regular season winds down, particularly with a challenging matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder looming.<\/p>\n

Even without Smart, the Lakers have found ways to win.<\/p>\n

But against a championship-caliber opponent, their margin for error will be significantly smaller.<\/p>\n
