After losing three consecutive games<\/a>, the New York Knicks desperately needed a win to steady themselves heading into the final stretch of the regular season. They accomplished that with a 130-119 road win over the Memphis Grizzlies that stopped the bleeding on a damaging skid.<\/p>\n

But make no mistake, while the box score reads as a victory, the Knicks still have unresolved business. An 18-point first-quarter lead that eventually shrunk to single digits in the third quarter, combined with 19 turnovers, signals that this team isn’t fully clicking.<\/p>\n

Here are the three biggest takeaways from the win:<\/p>\n

KAT Was Everywhere <\/p>\n

Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a performance that encapsulated his entire season in one game. He finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and a game-high 11 assists, operating as the engine of New York’s offense and connecting teammates at every turn.<\/p>\n

Towns’\u200b\u200d\u200b\u200c\u200d\u200b\u200d\u200c\u200b\u200d\u200b\u200c\u200d\u200b\u200d\u200c passing was at an elite level; he was throwing lobs, finding good open cutters, and setting up decent shooters all the time. But seven turnovers were equally glaring.<\/p>\n

The Grizzlies repeatedly capitalized on his miscues<\/a>. They were fueling their third-quarter surge. If the Knicks want a deep playoff run, Towns needs to keep playing like a playmaker and eliminate the carelessness.<\/p>\n

He averaged only 10.8 points on 43.1% shooting throughout the entire month. This also included a game in which he did not score a single point against the Lakers.<\/p>\n

In this match, he looked like a completely different player. Bridges dropped 24 points on a wonderful 9-of-15 from the field, hitting big shots in every quarter and showing the aggression the Knicks need before the playoffs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was something like he wanted to prove Stephen A. Smith a point about what he had said <\/a>to him last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

OG Is Carrying This Team on His Back<\/p>\n

OG\u200b\u200d\u200b\u200c\u200d\u200b\u200d\u200c\u200b\u200d\u200b\u200c\u200d\u200b\u200d\u200c Anunoby was simply overpowering. That 25-point, 13-rebound game was exactly the sort of two-way display that the Knicks require from him. He scored off of fast breaks, off cuts, three-pointers, and free throws, ultimately leading the game with a plus-15. The timing of his two blocks was also spot-on, as they hindered Memphis’s attempts towards the basket when the outcome of the game was still unknown. <\/p>\n

New York’s potential is really at a championship level, with Anunoby as the focal point; however, he can’t be the only player performing at a high, consistent level.<\/p>\n
