While it was his recent MVP speech that helped him shoot up in the odds to win the award, his latest record-breaking stat line\u00a0against the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/golden-state-warriors\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Golden State Warriors<\/a> is only adding to his case.<\/p>\n<p>Wembanyama finished the Spurs\u2019 win over the Warriors with 41 points, 18 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks on 72.7% shooting in just 29 minutes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/spurs\/onsi\/news\/wemby-drops-41-and-makes-more-history-spurs-crush-warriors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">breaking multiple franchise records in the process.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>While he still trails behind<a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nba\/player\/shai-gilgeous-alexander\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/mvp-odds-2026-gilgeous-alexander-wembanyama-doncic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA MVP odds for this season, according to most major sportsbooks and prediction markets<\/a>, with how he\u2019s elevated his game and San Antonio\u2019s continued team success, Wembanyama is making a strong case to take home the award over the reigning winner.<\/p>\n<p>Victor Wembanyama MVP Odds Surge After Spurs\u2019 Win Over Warriors<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5875460\" class=\"size-large wp-image-5875460\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2269454195-e1775139574101.jpg\" alt=\"Victor Wembanyama MVP odds\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5875460\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyVictor Wembanyama #1 of the San Antonio Spurs warms up before their game against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center on April 01, 2026 in San Francisco, California.<\/p>\n<p>Wembanyama was already a top favorite to win the top regular-season award, ahead of<a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nba\/player\/luka-doncic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Luka Doncic<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nba\/player\/nikola-jokic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nikola Jokic<\/a> in MVP odds, before the Spurs\u2019 game against Golden State.<\/p>\n<p>He had anywhere from +250 to +350 odds to take home the honor, odds that had only been increasing over the past few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>However, after his second 40-point double-double in a row, a stat line that was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hn4EY1GT1U4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">first in franchise history,<\/a> his MVP odds jumped even higher.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/sportsbook.draftkings.com\/leagues\/basketball\/nba?category=awards&amp;subcategory=mvp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">DraftKings<\/a>, the French phenomenon is now +220 for the MVP, and per <a href=\"https:\/\/sportsbook.fanduel.com\/navigation\/nba?tab=awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">FanDuel<\/a>, he has +300 odds to win the award, only behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/oklahoma-city-thunder\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a> star in the race on both of the country\u2019s top two sportsbooks.<\/p>\n<p>In the win over the Warriors, Wembanyama also became the first player in Spurs history since <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/chicago-bulls\/dennis-rodman-earns-wwe-hof-induction\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dennis Rodman<\/a> more than 30 years ago to have five games in a row with at least 15 rebounds. He passed legends <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/los-angeles-lakers\/david-robinson-lakers-celtics\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David Robinson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/carlos-cameron-boozer-modern-tim-duncan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Duncan<\/a> with his stat line on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>In those last five games, while Wembanyama\u2019s MVP odds have been surging, he has averaged 30 points, 15.8 rebounds, four assists, and 3.8 blocks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Spurs have won 10 straight overall and 15 consecutive games in which Wembanyama has appeared. During that streak, Wembanyama has averaged 27.9 points and 12.3 rebounds per game,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/48374676\/wembanyama-doubles-mvp-chase-41-point-night\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Anthony Slater of ESPN<\/a> added about the 22-year-old\u2019s recent run.<\/p>\n<p>Victor Wembanyama Speaks On Winning MVP Award<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5852362\" class=\"size-large wp-image-5852362\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/GettyImages-2266947932_4c7f3a.jpg\" alt=\"San Antonio Spurs Victor Wembanyama MVP odds\" width=\"780\" height=\"507\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5852362\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyVictor Wembanyama isn\u2019t waiting for MVP conversations, he\u2019s forcing his way into the center of them as the Spurs continue to win in dominant fashion.<\/p>\n<p>Wembanyama made recent headlines when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7142866\/2026\/03\/24\/victor-wembanyama-mvp-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">he gave three points as to why he thought he deserves to win the MVP award<\/a> this season, which, in turn, only boosted his odds for the trophy.<\/p>\n<p>But in addition to that, after San Antonio\u2019s latest win, he once again took the podium and make his further case for the MVP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do care deeply about it,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Jjp6GKpqu_0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Wembanyama said postgame<\/a>. \u201cI think that of the greats that are in the Hall of Fame \u2014 or the best of all time \u2014 they have fought and grabbed everything they could grab early on in their career. If I want to make my spot among the greats, I got to try to not miss any occasion to put my name up there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While early in his career Wembanyama has set <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/news\/victor-wembanyama-stats-through-100-games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">numerous records<\/a> and broken several previously \u2018unbeatable\u2019 feats, he said he was still surprised to hear that he matched Rodman with his rebounding prowess, a player typically considered one of the best in that aspect of the game in <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/\" title=\"NBA\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"212331\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA<\/a> history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWow,\u201d he said. \u201cI watched a lot of highlights [of Rodman], mostly on the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/chicago-bulls\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bulls<\/a>\u00a0than anything else. They don\u2019t make them like [him] anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the game, Warriors head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/golden-state-warriors\/steve-kerr-stephen-curry-news-spurs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Kerr<\/a> gave multiple compliments to the French center now firmly second in the MVP odds this season. Along with saying that Wembanyama looks like he is playing on a \u2018Nerf hoop\u2019, the multi-time champion as a player and coach, who shared the floor with Rodman in the late 1990s, had only praise for the young star.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Kerr on Victor Wembanyama<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis first couple years he looked young at times.
