(Jayden Mack\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n “My conduct was not detrimental to the team,” he said in an appearance on the “PinPoint Podcast.”<\/a> “That is a lie. I was a good teammate to those around me. I was a good teammate on the floor. I made the right plays. I did exactly what the coach asked me to do on a daily basis. Whatever was needed, whatever was required of me to do, I was willing. So, my conduct was not detrimental to the team.”<\/p>\n Ivey said he was only cut because he was preaching “the word of God.”<\/p>\n “It is strictly because I spoke the truth of the word of God and was preaching the Gospel,” he continued. “That\u2019s why it was detrimental to the team. I witnessed to many on my team the truth and those things.<\/p>\n “Everyone has their beliefs. Everyone believes in something. I\u2019m not ashamed to say it because God was merciful to keep me here,” he said. “I almost committed suicide. I had Oxy pills in my hands, and my wife was telling me, \u2018Don\u2019t do it. Don\u2019t do this. Don\u2019t go down like this.\u2019 And God was convicting me. And I didn\u2019t know the truth. I didn\u2019t do it by God\u2019s grace. He kept me here.”<\/p>\n Ivey pushed back on the narrative that he\u2019s “crazy.”<\/p>\n “It\u2019s really sad,” he said. “They don\u2019t say to somebody who\u2019s going to clubs, \u2018Are you crazy?\u2019 They don\u2019t look to somebody that\u2019s smoking weed, \u2018Are you crazy?\u2019 But to be the Christian proclaiming the truth, preaching the Gospel, I\u2019m looked at as crazy and have a mental illness and I\u2019m psycho and I need help and I\u2019m crazy because I love God.<\/p>\n Jaden Ivey of the Chicago Bulls reacts during the game against the Brooklyn Nets on Feb. 9, 2026 in New York City.
