Philadelphia\u2019s commemoration of the Allen Iverson-led tandem continues with the Sixers and Mitchell & Ness dropping their third and final \u201c76 Originals\u201d merchandise line on Thursday morning. The package will celebrate the 2000-01 Most Valuable Player’s impact throughout his storied NBA career.<\/p>\n
The line features six clothing items: a varsity jacket, an \u201cEssence of AI\u201d hoodie, an Iverson player tee, two \u201cUltimate Player\u201d tees, and a \u201cPlaymaker Player\u201d tee. These will be available for purchase on Sixersshop.com, the Xfinity Mobile Arena Team Store, the Mitchell & Ness Flagship Store, and Mitchellandness.com.<\/p>\n
How the Sixers have celebrated the 2000-01 team<\/p>\n
This launch marks the end of Philadelphia\u2019s thorough celebration of its last team to surpass the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Sixers started by returning their black uniforms this season that they wore from 1997 to 2009, which was nearly congruent with Iverson\u2019s 10-year Philadelphia tenure.<\/p>\n
They have worn those jerseys 11 times and will do so once more in their regular-season finale against the Milwaukee Bucks on April 12. Philadelphia also reinstated its court from this nostalgia-inducing era for games in which the jerseys are used. The fanbase loved the homage, and the Sixers ranked fifth across the NBA in top-selling merchandise as of January 20, according to NBA.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n What\u2019s more, Philadelphia\u2019s former mascot Hip-Hop returned in select games alongside Franklin the Dog.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Sixers officially honored members from the 2000-01 squad who could attend Philadelphia’s 124-114 win over the New Orleans Pelicans<\/a> on January 31. This included Iverson, Eric Snow, George Lynch, Pat Croce, Billy King and others.\u00a0<\/p>\n Philadelphia\u2019s \u201c76 Originals\u201d collaboration with Mitchell & Ness was prevalent throughout the season as well. They released two lines before the Iverson-centric bundle that was geared more toward team-based apparel, both of which can be found at the Mitchell & Ness Flagship Store amongst other places<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n Although the celebration is nearing a close, Iverson\u2019s impact on not only the Sixers but the NBA at large is immortal. He spearheaded Philadelphia\u2019s only Finals run in more than 40 years with 11 All-Star nods and four regular-season scoring titles to boot.
