The West Virginia Mountaineers will play on for at least one more game. <\/p>\n
It was a win-or-go-home scenario for WVU basketball on Thursday in the College Basketball Crown Quarterfinals<\/a> against the Stanford Cardinal, and for awhile in the second half, it seemed that ‘go home’ might be how things played out for the Mountaineers. <\/p>\n After holding a halftime lead, WVU would fall behind by eight points with just over two minutes remaining in the game. But they would tie the game in the final seconds, and then run away with a win in overtime. He made several crucial shots down the stretch for the Mountaineers from both the foul line and the field, but none as crucial as his attempted three-pointer with under five seconds remaining in regulation.<\/p>\n With WVU trailing by three points, Huff advanced the ball across the half-court line, and with little time to make something happen, Huff went up to shoot his shot with a Stanford defender on each side, and managed to draw a crucial foul to earn a game-tying opportunity. Huff would go a perfect 3-of-3 on the ensuing free throws, forcing overtime for the Mountaineers en route to a 82-77 victory<\/a>.<\/p>\n “We had a similar situation earlier this season, and we actually turned the ball over because of miscommunication between me and Jasper,” Huff said about the play.<\/p>\n “So this time we drew it up like, make sure I come get the ball. And really I just wanted to take what they gave me. I saw his hand get into me and knew that’s a foul, and just had to let it go because I knew we could get three, and these guys believe in me to knock them down at the free throw line.”<\/p>\n
