Steph Curry<\/a> is still out of action for the Golden State Warriors<\/a> on Thursday as they host the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> at Chase Center. The 12-time All-Star has been sidelined by a knee injury<\/a> since January, but is now closing on his return.<\/p>\n

Curry was recently cleared to take part in 5-on-5 scrimmage, indicating his imminent comeback. Previous reports indicated that the former back-to-back NBA<\/a> MVP will make his highly anticipated return on Sunday<\/a> against the Houston Rockets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr spoke to reporters ahead of Thursday\u2019s matchup against the Cavs. The four-time NBA champion coach took the opportunity to address Curry\u2019s situation.<\/p>\n

The good news for Warriors fans is that, according to Coach Kerr, \u201ceverything went well\u201d in Curry\u2019s scrimmage on Thursday. Kerr added that Curry \u201clooked good\u201d and that there were no setbacks for the 38-year-old. <\/p>\n

Kerr, however, pushed back on the prospect of Curry returning on Sunday. The Warriors coach made it clear that he has not confirmed anything yet.<\/p>\n

“I did not say that. Everybody else said that,” Kerr said.<\/p>\n

Despite Kerr\u2019s cautious approach, the 60-year-old did not rule out the possibility of Curry playing on Sunday.<\/p>\n

“Day-to-day. Yeah, so we’ll see how he recovers tomorrow,\u201d Kerr continued. \u201c… So (he’s) got a couple days to recover and [Warriors Director for Sports Medicine and Performance Rick Celebrini] and Steph will make a decision on that, tomorrow probably.”<\/p>\n

Kerr and the Warriors are not yet ready to officially give the green light to Curry. It appears they want him to take part in another scrimmage on Friday to see how his knee reacts. At this point, the last thing the team wants is to risk an aggravation if they bring Curry back too soon.<\/p>\n

If Curry does come back on Sunday, he will have five games to ramp up and get his conditioning back before the play-in tournament starts.<\/p>\n

The Warriors are currently 10th in the Western Conference and will need to navigate a tough path in the play-in tournament to potentially secure a spot in the NBA playoffs. <\/p>\n
