{"id":695821,"date":"2026-04-03T13:07:22","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T13:07:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/695821\/"},"modified":"2026-04-03T13:07:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T13:07:22","slug":"luka-doncic-suffers-left-hamstring-injury-vs-thunder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/695821\/","title":{"rendered":"Luka Don\u010di\u0107 suffers left hamstring injury vs. Thunder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2141482\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2141482\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2268966069-scaled-e1775194683757.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2035\" height=\"1148\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2141482\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Luka Don\u010di\u0107 is set for a Friday MRI after suffering a left hamstring injury Thursday against the Thunder.<\/p>\n<p>OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) \u2014\u00a0Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic injured his left hamstring on Thursday night and coach JJ Redick said the league\u2019s scoring leader will have an MRI on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Redick said Doncic\u00a0had an issue with the hamstring in the first half of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/game\/lal-vs-okc-0022501116\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">139-97 loss<\/a> to the Oklahoma City Thunder\u00a0and was tended to at the break.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe checked him out, he got work done, he was cleared,\u201d Redick said.<\/p>\n<p>Doncic returned to action briefly. On his final play of the game, he spun before trying to go up for a shot against Oklahoma City\u2019s Jalen Williams. There was no contact before Doncic stopped, then lay down on the floor while wincing in pain. He left the game for good with 7:39 remaining in the third quarter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose things happen,\u201d Redick said.<\/p>\n<p>Williams, an All-Star in 2025, has missed 27 games this season because of a right hamstring strain. He felt badly for Doncic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very, like, spooky in a way to see it happen to him, and I\u2019m the one guarding him,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n<p>Williams could have stolen the ball after Doncic let it go, but he chose not to take advantage of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tried to let it go out of bounds and give them time to figure it out,\u201d Williams said. \u201cThat injury sucks. So I wish him a speedy recovery. Hope it\u2019s not anything serious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Doncic had scored at least 40 points in five of his previous seven games. He was held to 12 on 3-for-10 shooting against Oklahoma City\u2019s relentless defense.<\/p>\n<p>The Lakers trailed 90-58 when Doncic was hurt, so the injury made a bad night worse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, it\u2019s something you never want to see as a teammate,\u201d Lakers forward Jake LaRavia said. \u201cSo especially in a game like this, it was tough to see him go down. All the prayers for him \u2026 but yeah, you never want to see that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lakers guard Austin Reaves hurt his back during the game, but continued to play. He sat out the fourth quarter with the game out of reach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was in a weird position, stretching for a basketball, loose ball,\u201d Redick said. \u201cAnd he just felt something intercostal, somewhere in his back, in between the ribs.
