The Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> will look to pull out a second consecutive win when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a> on Friday night.<\/p>\n

It will be the second and final meeting of the season between the teams. The 76ers won the first meeting in February by a score of 135-108.<\/p>\n

Joel Embiid ‘doubtful’ to play against Timberwolves on Friday night\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sixers star center Joel Embiid didn\u2019t play in that first game against Minnesota, and he doesn\u2019t look like he\u2019ll be out on the floor this time around either. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Embiid is listed as “doubtful” on the official injury report<\/a> for the game due to an illness, indicating that he’s unlikely to play. His final status will be determined prior to tipoff.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The big man missed Philadelphia’s 153-131 victory over the Washington Wizards<\/a> on Wednesday night due to the illness, which he first acknowledged<\/a> following the team’s loss to the Miami Heat<\/a> on Monday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Well, first, I wish I wasn’t sick,” Embiid said after the game. “So, maybe that would have helped to play better. So, physically, I just was not in it, and then secondly, obviously, if the first part was better, then I guess I would have had more energy to do all the things. So yeah, just gotta take off myself and get out of it and play better.”<\/p>\n

The game against Minnesota is the first night of a back-to-back for the Sixers, as they’ll host the Detroit Pistons<\/a> on Saturday night. So, perhaps Embiid will sit on Friday night and play on Saturday. We’ll have to wait and see.\u00a0<\/p>\n
