Recently, the Toronto Raptors suffered back-to-back agonizing losses against the Detroit Pistons and Sacramento Kings<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The early signs of a promising connection between Scottie Barnes and Collin Murray-Boyles<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cPoint Scottie\u201d has a new favourite target<\/p>\n

Immanuel Quickley has now missed six consecutive contests with an injury<\/a>. In that time, Scottie Barnes has stepped in as the team\u2019s primary point guard, and the results have been impressive.<\/p>\n

Barnes has recorded double-digit assists in all six games<\/a> while helping push the pace of Toronto\u2019s offense. A significant portion of that production has come from his growing connection with rookie forward Collin Murray-Boyles.<\/p>\n

In the last two games alone, seven <\/a>of Barnes\u2019 22 assists have gone to Murray-Boyles.<\/p>\n

Both players thrive in a transition-heavy, high-energy style. Their shared versatility, athleticism, and chemistry make them a dangerous tandem, especially in the open floor.<\/p>\n

This connection could define Toronto\u2019s future\u00a0<\/p>\n

Scottie Barnes is 24 years old and under contract for four more seasons after this one. Murray-Boyles is just 20 and will be under team control for at least three more years before entering restricted free agency.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Raptors fans should get used to seeing this connection.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There has already been a lot of focus, for good reason, on how the Barnes\u2013CMB pairing could wreak havoc defensively. However, these past couple of games are beginning to show how impactful they can be on both ends of the floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What makes their potential even more intriguing is how their strengths overlap.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Many of the best transition opportunities are created through disruptive defensive plays like steals and blocks. Barnes and Murray-Boyles have the tools to become the most disruptive defensive pairing in the league. Given that, they will be able to turn that disruptive defense into highlight transition offense for years to come.\u00a0<\/p>\n
