PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers welcomed Joel Embiid back to the floor on Friday as he helped them knock off the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-103<\/a> and remain in the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference. Embiid shook off a slow start to finish with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.<\/p>\n

Embiid missed Wednesday’s win over the Washington Wizards after not initially being listed on the injury report for the contest. The Sixers then ruled him out Wednesday morning due to an illness, which wasn’t a big surprise when considering he revealed he was sick after the loss to the Miami Heat the game before.<\/p>\n

However, what ensued was Embiid going off on Twitter, questioning the injury report saying he was out against the Wizards. He explained what happened after the win on Friday.<\/p>\n

“I was pissed off,” Embiid explained. “I wanted to play basketball. I wasn’t allowed to play basketball. So, I think this is more of a question on Daryl Morey and whoever makes the decisions. I think going into Miami, I was pretty sick, but I understood how important the game was, and I still wanted to give us a chance to go out and try to do something because of how important the game was.”<\/p>\n

Coach Nick Nurse revealed before the Wizards game that Embiid was not able to be at the team’s film session <\/a>as he was feeling ill. That is when the Sixers made the decision to rule Embiid out, but it was news to the big fella when he did see it.<\/p>\n

“I felt a little bit better going into Washington, definitely much better than I felt against Miami. I woke up, didn’t sleep until probably, like, 5 in the morning or 6,” Embiid added. “So, with that, I couldn’t make it to shootaround. Then after that, I found out online that I wasn’t playing that night. So that kind of caught me off guard, and yeah, that pissed me off, but then again, I guess they make the decisions.”<\/p>\n

After gutting it out in Miami, Embiid wanted to play in Washington, but the team had other ideas which is not what he wanted.<\/p>\n

“So, it doesn’t matter what I think or not, I just got to follow it so, but to answer your question, that’s more of a question for Daryl and them,” he continued. “So, yeah, they gotta\u2014yeah. I’m just, I don’t know what’s going on. I just wanna play basketball.”<\/p>\n

Speaking of playing basketball, Embiid and the Sixers will host the Detroit Pistons on Saturday on the second night of a back-to-back. The big fella wants to play in his first B2B on the season.<\/p>\n

“There’s a chance,” he said. “I don’t know. I guess these guys decide to let me play or not. So, whatever they tell me, I guess, I gotta follow.”<\/p>\n

In terms of his health, Embiid said his right oblique is continuing to bother him, but he is trying not to think about it as he moves forward.<\/p>\n

“A little bit,” he explained. “I got hit again today, so that doesn’t help. So, yeah, just got keep playing and trying to not think about it.”<\/p>\n

With the illness, Embiid said he isn’t 100% yet, but he is working on it.<\/p>\n

“I’m OK,” he finished. “A little bit better, but still not fully there.”<\/p>\n

So, another ordinary day in Sixer land! Embiid works his tail off to be in the best position he possibly can to help the team. This was no different. The Sixers made a decision on the big fella that he didn’t like as he continues to make his plea to play basketball every day as he feels as if he is ready to do so.<\/p>\n
