Otherwise, the front office may be better served by flipping some of their young stars for a proven NBA talent.

With that in mind, Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey recently proposed a trade to send Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Windy City. The proposed trade looks like this:

Chicago Bulls Get: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks: Josh Giddey, Patrick Williams, Matas Buzelis and first-round picks in 2026, 2028, 2030 and 2032

“Chicago is one of the league’s biggest markets. This franchise has a storied history. And it’s been far too long since it was a real part of the title conversation,” Bailey wrote. “Having Giannis would make it easier for the Bulls to talk others into coming on board. He and one other high-level player could make Chicago a contender in the East.”

Bailey continued.

“While there’s still some untapped potential in Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis, neither figures to peak anywhere near the level Giannis will play over the last couple years of his prime.”

Giannis would instantly improve the Bulls, potentially putting them back into playoff contention. Furthermore, his presence on the roster could make it easier to entice higher-level talents to Chicago via free agency.

Bulls 2026 Draft Pick Could Be Brayden Burries

If the Bulls decide to remain patient with their rebuild, they’ll likely have a top-10 draft pick later this year. According to Sean Deveney of Heavy on Sports, Chicago could look to acquire Brayden Burris out of Arizona with the 9th overall pick.

“After a rough start to the year, Burries’ stock has continued to rise into the Top 10,” Deveney wrote. “He’s a 6-foot-4 two-way combo guard who can hold his own on an NBA floor from the get-go, but the hope is that he develops into a solid starting point guard. He’s 13-for-19 on 3-pointers in the tournament, and that’s helping boost him now.”

Burries will likely be a one-and-done collegiate prospect. He’s shone for the Wildcats this season, averaging 16.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game, shooting 56.8% from two-point range and 40.2% from deep.

Following the departure of Coby White and the impending unrestricted free agency of Anfernee Simons, there could be a ready-made spot off the bench for Burries to step into next season.

Chicago Bulls Should Stick To Current Path

The idea of acquiring a superstar like Giannis Antetokounmpo is always enticing. However, the Bulls are on track to create a sustainable roster for years to come. Changing course now would undo all the hard work that’s gone into building a culture, identity and young core.

Giannis is already 31 years old. He has a growing history of injury troubles. Acquiring him now would not only shorten the Bulls’ window to develop and be competitive, but it would also ensure another rebuild is only a few years away.

Chicago has multiple exciting prospects on the roster. At this point in their current developmental timeline, it makes more sense to stay the course than to start chasing big names.

Adam Taylor is a basketball reporter covering the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Miami Heat for Heavy.
