The deal is not expected to include guaranteed money for next season.<\/p>\n<p>Smith, 26, has been a regular contributor off the bench since joining the Nets in March. In his first 10 NBA games, he\u2019s averaging 7.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 18.2 minutes per contest, while shooting .527 from the field and .545 from three-point range.<\/p>\n<p>A former Gonzaga product, Smith spent most of the season with the Long Island Nets after going undrafted in 2023. He has also had stints with the Rip City Remix, Wisconsin Herd and Memphis Hustle in the G League.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe mentality is leave it all on the floor,\u201d Smith said after Friday\u2019s game. \u201cI\u2019m not going to take any minute for granted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brooklyn will be able to finalize the deal without waiving a player, as one roster spot is currently occupied by a hardship 10-day contract.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Nets have signed guard Malachi Smith to a two-year contract, according to ESPN\u2019s Shams Charania.
