Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey<\/p>\n

As the NBA<\/a> world debates the 65-game rule, the Philadelphia 76ers can feel good about the status of their star guard, Tyrese Maxey.<\/p>\n

During the Friday night battle between the Sixers and the Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a>, Maxey clocked in for his 65th game of the year. If awards or All-NBA nods are in his future, he is eligible to get them after a slight scare.<\/p>\n

via Bobby Marks: ESPN<\/a>: Tyrese Maxey has now played 65 games and is eligible for postseason honors. Maxey ranks fourth in points (28.8) and third in total clutch points.<\/p>\n

Maxey suffered a finger injury recently, which took him off the court for a stretch of games.<\/p>\n

After the star guard logged 38 minutes against the Atlanta Hawks<\/a> on March 7, Maxey went on to miss games from March 9 until he returned on March 28. The star guard was out for 10 games, which brought his total to 12 for the year.<\/p>\n

Maxey returned from his recent setback earlier than expected. As the Sixers got healthier, they are fighting for a late-season playoff push. Maxey wanted to make sure he was on the court to help contribute as best as he could.<\/p>\n

The Sixers are entering their Saturday night battle against the Detroit Pistons<\/a> with a 43-34 record. They are tied with the Toronto Raptors<\/a>, but currently hold the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n

Every game matters going forward. Clearly, Maxey brings a lot of value to the table for the 76ers, as he\u2019s their leading scorer this year.<\/p>\n

Throughout the 2024-2026 NBA season, Maxey has shot 46.3% from the field and 37.0% from three to average 28.7 points per game. He also produces 4.2 rebounds per game and 6.8 assists per game. The young star is averaging the most minutes per game in the NBA, with 38.3 minutes.<\/p>\n

After getting All-Star honors for the second time in two seasons, Maxey could be on pace to earn additional nods. Getting to 65 games was a major step.<\/p>\n
