The Washington Wizards sought revenge against the Heat<\/a> on Saturday in Miami. This was the first meeting between the two teams after Bam Adebayo\u2019s<\/a> historic, 83-point performance against the Wizards in March. Ultimately, Washington would end up fighting a losing battle. The final score was 152-136 in Miami\u2019s favor. With that being said, several Wizards would light up the box score in the offensive shootout.<\/p>\n

Multiple Young Wizards Shine In Losing Effort Against Heat<\/p>\n

With the game being an offense-driven contest, Washington\u2019s box score was stuffed. Eight of the 11 Wizards who played finished with 10+ points on the night. While the media will gravitate to Jamie Jacquez<\/a> Jr\u2019s 32-point performance, several Wizards finished with games that rival his offensive outburst.<\/p>\n

Will Riley<\/a>, Sharife Cooper<\/a>, Justin Champagnie<\/a>, and Jaden Hardy<\/a> would lead the Washington Wizards and put on a show, even in a tough loss against the Heat.<\/p>\n

Will Riley<\/p>\n

To say Riley hasn\u2019t been on an absolute tear since the All-Star Break would be absurd. Fresh off a nomination for March\u2019s Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month, the Illinois product has once again put on another dominant showing after showing out against the Jazz<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The forward would finish with a career-high 31 points, while only missing five shots on 17 attempts. Riley has dominated the box scores for Washington over the last month of games. He has proven to be one of the offensively gifted players from the 2025 NBA Draft and arguably the best rookie on the team<\/a>. If he continues the show through Washington\u2019s last five games, Riley should be in contention for an All-Rookie Team selection.<\/p>\n

Sharife Cooper<\/p>\n

Cooper has silently been a reliable contributor off the bench for the Wizards. The guard may be back in the G-League next year, but he has built himself a case for a solid rotation role in the future. Against the Heat, Cooper would supply an efficient 20 points. He also led the Wizards in assists with seven, matching his career-high.<\/p>\n

While not considered a major threat, Cooper has been steady and consistent in his role with the Wizards. It may not pay off immediately, but his helping hand could be beneficial to Washington. At the very least, the guard should be allowed to compete for a spot on the roster next season.<\/p>\n

Justin Champagnie<\/p>\n

The all-around threat that is Champagnie has led many to believe he is currently on the most franchise-friendly contract in the NBA. He\u2019s not Washington\u2019s go-to player off the bench, with several DNP\u2019s this season, but his role needs a boost. The Miami game provided just another example of that, with Champagnie dropping 12 points while leading the Wizards with 10 rebounds.<\/p>\n

This was the 24-year-old\u2019s third double-double of the season. It just goes to show that his talent needs to be taken advantage of. The Pittsburgh product has always been a consistent player for D.C. However, his lack of playing time hurts both his development and the team\u2019s success. Inconsistent playing time aside, Champagnie\u2019s impact is one of great value, and he\u2019s deserving of a long-term spot in Washington.<\/p>\n

Jaden Hardy<\/p>\n

After being a sidepiece in the trade<\/a> that brought Anthony Davis<\/a> to the DMV, Hardy has shown he has the potential to be a great reserve for the Wizards. Like Champagnie, Hardy has received DNP\u2019s due to the coach\u2019s decision, but when he\u2019s on the floor, expect Hardy to be scoring in bunches. On Saturday, Hardy scored 19 points while adding two rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes of action.<\/p>\n

Hardy\u2019s future is cloudy. In that same breath, the guard has provided Washington\u2019s front office with plenty to be excited about. Since joining the team, Hardy has averaged a career-high 12.9 points while also shooting career-high splits from the field and three. His offensive skillset should pair well with a Wizards bench in need of backcourt scoring next season.<\/p>\n
