According to a statement shared by ESPN’s Shams Charania<\/a>, a league spokesperson noted that “certain facts remain in dispute” concerning Antetokounmpo’s condition and how Milwaukee managed his injury.<\/p>\n

“The NBA’s Player Participation Policy investigation into the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo is ongoing and certain facts remain in dispute,” League spokesperson notes in Charania shared announcement.<\/p>\n

“The investigation has found that the Bucks scheduled Giannis to work out last week in three-on-three scrimmages as part of his return-to-play process, but he declined to participate.”<\/p>\n

“There is a disagreement as to whether the team requested that Giannis participate in a group workout earlier this week, and the league is continuing to monitor the situation,” he adds.<\/p>\n

Antetokounmpo, sidelined since March 15 with what the team has called a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise, has insisted that he is fit to play.<\/p>\n

“I’m available to play… Right now,” he said earlier this week, via The Athletic<\/a>. “I don’t know what game is being played right here.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Milwaukee has stated that the two-time MVP is not yet ready to return.<\/p>\n

The investigation is examining, in part, the NBA’s player participation policy and whether there were inconsistencies in how Antetokounmpo’s status was reported.<\/p>\n
