{"id":700488,"date":"2026-04-06T00:12:27","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T00:12:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/700488\/"},"modified":"2026-04-06T00:12:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T00:12:27","slug":"spurs-starter-gives-76ers-major-backhanded-compliment-for-releasing-him","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/700488\/","title":{"rendered":"Spurs starter gives 76ers major backhanded compliment for releasing him"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You know how the saying goes: One team\u2019s trash is another team\u2019s treasure.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s certainly been the case for Julian Champagnie, who has found a home as a starter and key contributor on a title-contending team in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/nba\/san-antonio-spurs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">San Antonio Spurs<\/a> after being waived by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/nba\/philadelphia-76ers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">76ers<\/a> after a brief stint in Philadelphia during the 2022-23 NBA season.<\/p>\n<p>Things worked out for Julian Champagnie after being cut by 76ers\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While recently reflecting on the path he took to get to his current position, Champagnie gave the 76ers a major backhanded compliment for parting ways with him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m super grateful for my whole journey, I wouldn\u2019t change it, I wouldn\u2019t have it no other way,&#8221;\u00a0Champagnie said. &#8220;I\u2019m happy I got cut, probably the best thing that could have happened for me\u2026 so shoutout to Philly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Julian Champagnie reflects on being cut by the Sixers:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m super grateful for my whole journey, I wouldn\u2019t change it, I wouldn\u2019t have it no other way. Guys like Champagnie, Isaiah Joe, Paul Reed, Jared McCain and T.J. McConnell have all become legitimate rotation pieces elsewhere after the Sixers moved on from them.<\/p>\n<p>Organizations make mistakes sometimes. It happens.
