Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns<\/a> missed New York\u2019s previous matchup against the Chicago Bulls<\/a> due to a right elbow injury<\/a>. While the Knicks still secured a dominant 136\u201396 victory, Towns\u2019 health remains critical to their playoff ambitions.<\/p>\n

Fortunately for New York, Towns appears ready to return. He practiced on Sunday and was removed from the injury report ahead of Monday\u2019s game against Atlanta at State Farm Arena, signaling he is good to go.<\/p>\n

This marks an important development for the Knicks as they look to solidify their standing among the Eastern Conference\u2019s elite and make a serious postseason push. Despite dealing with injuries throughout the season, Towns has been highly productive, averaging 20.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 49.6% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the season, Towns endured a rough stretch in January, averaging just 15.9 points on 42.3% shooting, a noticeable dip from his 22.3 points on 52.4 percent shooting in December. The criticism followed quickly, but Towns responded by working closely with head coach Mike Brown to adjust.<\/p>\n

“I had to adjust to him as well,” Brown said recently<\/a>. “That’s what a season’s about. I had to make some adjustments to figure out how I could get him involved a little bit better, get him to feel a little more comfortable.”<\/p>\n

“It’s showing a little bit, he’s obviously putting in the work, which you want all your guys to do, but it’s a two-way street, and it’s good to see him playing at the level he’s playing at right now.”<\/p>\n

Towns\u2019 ability to impact the game both inside and beyond the arc has been vital to New York\u2019s success, and his availability will be key as the team looks to maintain momentum in the final four regular-season games.<\/p>\n

During his absence, Mitchell Robinson took on a larger role, but he is expected to return to the second unit once Towns returns to the lineup. That will also likely reduce minutes for Mohamed Diawara and Ariel Hukporti moving forward.<\/p>\n
