Nick Nurse and the Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> missed a major opportunity on Monday, April 6, in San Antonio, Texas.<\/p>\n

The Sixers paid a visit to the San Antonio Spurs<\/a>, who have been thriving throughout the 2025-2026 NBA season.<\/p>\n

During the first half of the game, the Spurs lost their superstar center, Victor Wembanyama, which gave the Sixers a prime opportunity to knock off the Western Conference\u2019s second seed.<\/p>\n

Instead, the Sixers fell flat.<\/p>\n

A 115-102 loss was in store for Philadelphia. After the game, one Sixers fan took to Reddit to ask a simple question<\/a>: \u201cNew Head Coach?\u201d<\/p>\n

While the fan clarified that there isn\u2019t any Nick Nurse \u201chate\u201d coming from him, he feels that the Sixers could find a new leader after the 2025-2026 season. The post went viral on the Sixers\u2019 thread, generating a lot of debate.<\/p>\n

\u201cHear me out: Brett Brown,\u201d Capn21 said. \u201cHe\u2019s the best coach that they\u2019ve had in recent years so I wouldn\u2019t say no,\u201d another fan added.<\/p>\n

Ironically, the Sixers faced Brown on Monday night. The former Philadelphia head coach has been back with the Spurs for several seasons now.<\/p>\n

\u201cFeel the same way. I think it\u2019s time to go with a younger college coach and give up on signing these established NBA guys. The future of this team is Maxey & VJ. I want a coach that is best for that future and has fresh ideas,\u201d AstroZombieInvader said.<\/p>\n

During the Joel Embiid era, the Sixers started off with an established assistant, without prior head coaching experience in Brett Brown. Their following two hires were Doc Rivers and Nick Nurse. Both coaches had plenty of experience and a championship.<\/p>\n

\u201cKyle Lowry,\u201d RockyRooter suggested. \u201c[You know] what I don\u2019t think it would hurt to have him assistant coaching,\u201d Anxiouo_North_819 responded.<\/p>\n

Kyle Lowry is back with the Sixers on a one-year deal. Many feel as though he\u2019s an assistant in uniform. The transition to being an assistant coach will probably be easy for Lowry. Jumping right to head coach would be some JJ Redick-level stuff for the one-time champion.<\/p>\n

Some of the standout suggestions mentioned were Taylor Jenkins, Chris Quinn, Jay Wright, and Sam Cassell.<\/p>\n

As the final week of the regular season is here, there hasn\u2019t been much discussion about Nurse\u2019s job being in jeopardy.<\/p>\n

However, at the end of the 2024-2025 season and the start of the 2025-2026 season, there were some scattered reports that suggested both Nurse and Daryl Morey are on the hot seat in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Nurse\u2019s job will likely depend on how far the 76ers can go this season. When Nurse took over for the fired Doc Rivers, the Sixers were consistently failing to get out of the second round. Nurse\u2019s first season included a first-round exit. His second season didn\u2019t include a postseason appearance.<\/p>\n

The Sixers are 43-36 before their matchup against the Houston Rockets<\/a>. They 0.5 games out of the playoffs, holding the top Play-In position.<\/p>\n
