{"id":705092,"date":"2026-04-08T11:22:27","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T11:22:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/705092\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T11:22:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T11:22:27","slug":"victor-wembanyama-injury-sparks-nsfw-rant-from-zach-lowe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/705092\/","title":{"rendered":"Victor Wembanyama injury sparks NSFW rant from Zach Lowe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/nba\/nba-stories\/nba-mvp-mondays-who-is-left-after-luka-doncic-cade-cunningham-injuries\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Victor Wembanyama&#8217;s incredible 2025-26 NBA season<\/a> with the <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/nba\/san-antonio-spurs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">San Antonio Spurs<\/a>, he could end up missing out on major awards, thanks to the league&#8217;s controversial 65-game rule.<\/p>\n<p>That rule has become a major subject of late in the Association, especially after Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic was ruled out for the remainder of the season, thus becoming ineligible for postseason honors.<\/p>\n<p>And <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/nba\/san-antonio-spurs\/whats-next-spurs-victor-wembanyama-suffering-rib-injury-vs-76ers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">with Victor Wembanyama going down with a rib injury<\/a> during Monday&#8217;s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, the former No. 1 overall NBA draft pick could end up on the same boat as Doncic.<\/p>\n<p>It is an <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/episode\/5WXjEu0fViUXjz2hRrTuMx?si=2e0f31fe803144f8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">unfortunate scenario that drew quite a reaction<\/a> from NBA analyst Zach Lowe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe needs to play one more game, 20 minutes, to be eligible for let\u2019s see, MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-NBA, First Team All-Defense, theoretically Most Improved Player just throw that on there. Good luck deciphering this because you get two games where you can play between 15 and 20 minutes and those count,\u201d Lowe said during a recent episode of The Zach Lowe Show.<\/p>\n<p>Added Lowe: \u201cOh by the way, he won\u2019t see this in his game log but he played in the NBA Cup Championship game and that does count. So when you look up his stats, his stats aren\u2019t even right, and you have to add that. What the f**k are we doing with this 65 game rule?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As it stands, the Spurs have three more games on their schedule before the 2026 NBA Playoffs. Wembanyama has to play at least 20 minutes in any of those contests to become eligible to win key NBA awards, including those Lowe rattled out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/nba\/san-antonio-spurs\/spurs-news-victor-wembanyama-doubtful-injury-trail-blazers-clash\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Victor Wembanyama is already deemed doubtful<\/a> for Wednesday&#8217;s game against the Portland Trail Blazers at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, and if he ultimately gets ruled out for that contest, he&#8217;ll be left with the Dallas Mavericks game on Friday and the meeting with the Denver Nuggets on Sunday to try and suit up to qualify for the awards.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Victor Wembanyama&#8217;s incredible 2025-26 NBA season with the San Antonio Spurs, he could end up missing out on major awards, thanks to the league&#8217;s controversial 65-game rule.
