The Washington Wizards<\/a> were no doubt in rebuild mode this year, but they also made some moves along the edges to make sure they’re better next season. One of the first moves they made was acquiring Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks<\/a> at the trade deadline. After that, they traded for Anthony Davis<\/a>, which was probably one of the more surprising moves of the deadline.<\/p>\n

Davis seemed to be shocked as well, and he went on the Draymond Green Show to speak about his initial thoughts<\/a> on the trade.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018Damn, Washington?’But when you get here and you look at the facility, you look at the little details of it, the team, it’s like, \u2018Not bad.’ I like the young guys\u2026 These motherf*ckers can play,\u201d Davis said. \u201cThey play hard. They’re not afraid of the moment. They’re not scared. These guys can really hoop.\u201d<\/p>\n

“I was like, ‘Damn, Washington?’\u2026 [but] the team, it’s like, ‘Not bad.’ I like the young guys\u2026 These motherf*ckers can play. They play hard. They’re not afraid of the moment.”<\/p>\n

Davis has had a lot of success in his career, and at this point in time, all he wants to do is win. Those are the conversations that he’s having with the Wizards’ front office, and they seem to be on the same page.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I talk to the GM, when I talk to the owner, I talk to the president, I’ve always, and I’m always going to be about winning,\u201d Davis said. \u201cNo matter what, I want to win. If that’s here, then that’s here\u2026 Every year that I’m here, I want to compete for a championship.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davis always knows that it’s not going to happen in one year to where they become championship contenders, but they can build up to that point. With the chance of getting a top pick in the draft and adding more pieces in free agency, the Wizards can be on the trajectory of being on the rise next season.<\/p>\n
