Unexpectedly, the Dallas Mavericks<\/a> traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> for Luka Doncic in a deal that no one saw coming.\u00a0<\/p>\n On Wednesday, Davis finally broke his silence<\/a> on the blockbuster deal that turned his world upside down.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI said, who the (expletive) they gonna trade me for,” Davis said on the latest installment of the Draymond Green show. \u201cLuka? I was like, \u2018Who else could you trade me for on that team?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI had no idea this was happening,\u201d Davis said. \u201cAnd I couldn\u2019t make sense of it. \u2026 From a business standpoint, I can\u2019t be mad. But why? It just caught me off guard.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI still think I deserved much more respect than that,\u201d Davis said. \u201cAll the time I\u2019ve been here. (Expletive), I was there for six years. We won a championship. All this stuff, and I can\u2019t get a phone call or a text of, \u2018This is what we\u2019re thinking.\u201d<\/p>\n Davis made a fair point as he broke down his feelings about the historic trade to Green. The NBA is a business, meaning organizations shouldn\u2019t hesitate to make moves they believe will help them reach new heights.\u00a0<\/p>\n In this case, Pelinka and the Lakers believed that swapping an injury-prone big man for a thriving point guard in his prime was a no-brainer trade.\u00a0<\/p>\n Considering Doncic (who\u2019s currently dealing with a hamstring injury) has given the Lakers\u2019 offense a significant boost, and Davis only lasted 29 games with the Mavericks before the franchise shipped him to the Washington Wizards<\/a>, it would be challenging to argue that Los Angeles made a mistake.<\/p>\n That said, after everything Davis did with the Lakers, the least the franchise could have done was give him a heads-up before completing the deal.\u00a0<\/p>\n Simply put, Davis\u2019 feelings are undoubtedly justified, whether individuals are fond of the 10-time All-Star or not.<\/p>\n
