After undergoing thorough testing on Tuesday, the Spurs were relieved to find out that Wembanyama wasn\u2019t dealing with anything major.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Spurs couldn\u2019t clear Wembanyama to take the court right away.<\/p>\n<p>Against the Blazers, the big man was ruled out. (Photo by Ezra Shaw\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s improved quite a bit,\u201d Johnson told reporters. \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s a long-term concern, but we\u2019ll obviously be very cautious with the situation and circumstances we\u2019re under. \u2026 We\u2019ll just kind of take it day by day and see how it goes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>via <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JaredWeissNBA\/status\/2042027566874169692\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jared Weiss, The Athletic<\/a>: Mitch Johnson says Wemby is improving and there are no major concerns about his rib contusion, but wouldn\u2019t say if Victor will play Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The Spurs started backup center Luke Kornet in Wembanyama\u2019s place on Wednesday night. He is the difference-maker for a team that hopes to compete for a championship.<\/p>\n<p>As much as Wembanyama wants his personal accolades, the Spurs need to make sure he\u2019s protected for the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/\" title=\"NBA\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"219747\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA<\/a> Playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>This season, Wembanyama has appeared in 63 games for the Spurs. He is making 51.0% of his shots from the field and knocking down 35.0% of his shots from three. The veteran is producing 24.8 points per game.<\/p>\n<p>Along with his scoring, Wembanyama is averaging a double-double by coming down with 11.5 rebounds per game.
