Revisiting the Los Angeles Lakers, Dennis Schroder slams unnamed former teammate<\/p>\n

In the seventh installment of the Golden Hoops podcast<\/a>, Dennis Schroder provided a look at the \u201cruthless tactical environment\u201d of the NBA Playoffs, highlighting how regular-season success often counts for little. Alongside host Andre Voigt, the 32-year-old German reflected on his tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> to illustrate how individual limitations can compromise championship aspirations.<\/p>\n

Schroder revealed there was \u201cdefinitely a player I played with for one season in L.A. who just wasn\u2019t made for the playoffs\u201d. While protecting the individual\u2019s identity, he emphasized that the liability \u201cbecame clear pretty early\u201d once postseason intensity arrived. The Braunschweig native, now with the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>, explained that the Playoffs demand a level of versatility some players simply cannot provide, necessitating immediate benching. In these moments, veterans must deliver a harsh reality check: \u201cListen, maybe next round is your round, but in this round it\u2019s extremely difficult to play you.\u201d<\/p>\n

This shift is often driven by defensive mismatches. Schroder noted that \u201cif you can\u2019t hold your ground against Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown when they switch onto you and punish you every possession, then maybe you can\u2019t play.\u201d In such scenarios, teams must \u201creact as quickly as possible and bring in a bigger body\u201d.<\/p>\n

Heading into his tenth postseason with a 51-29 Cavaliers<\/a> squad, Schroder insists that even when a series seems lost, \u201cgiving up is never the answer\u201d. Averaging 8.2 points and 4.3 assists under Kenny Atkinson since a midseason trade<\/a> to join an 11th different team in the league, the veteran remains focused on the clinical adaptability required to survive the playoff gauntlet.<\/p>\n
