The Charlotte Hornets have had a resurgence which has trickled down to their G-League team in Greensboro. The Swarm are the verge of winning a championship.<\/p>\n
It’s been 10 seasons since the Charlotte Hornets made the playoffs. That could change this year. That positive turn around has had a trickle down effect in Greensboro.<\/p>\n
It’s no secret but there’s been a lot of changes over the last couple years, in particular, with starting three years ago,” Greensboro Swarm General Maneger Cole Teal said. “Like with the ownership change, like there’s been a huge investment from up top.”<\/p>\n
The Hornets G-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, are one win away from the G-League championship, beating the Stockton Kings in game one of the best of three series. 111-107, Wednesday night. This is only the second year in the team’s 10 year history that they’ve even made the playoffs<\/p>\n
“From a confidence standpoint, like within our own organization you know, we had the belief the whole time for it to actually happen,” Teal said.<\/p>\n
Over the summer former Duke guard Kon Knueppel helped to lead the Hornets to a Sumemr League Championship. That marked the beginning of the winning culture in the Hornets franchise.<\/p>\n
“(The Hornets front office has) just done a really good job of bringing in the right people, staff and players,” Teal said. “Then it’s just a matter of putting all the puzzle pieces together.”<\/p>\n
The Swarm can win a championship if they beat Stockton in Game two Friday April 10th at 10pm. If not, the deciding game three is in Greensboro Monday April 13th at 8:00. The Swarm have never won a playoff game before this season.<\/p>\n
The Hornets will more than likely make the NBA play-in tournament. If they can get past that, they’ll be in the NBA Playoffs for the first time in 10 seasons.<\/p>\n
