The New York Knicks<\/a> have solidified their positioning as the third seed in the Eastern Conference and are preparing for another run in the NBA<\/a> playoffs. The Knicks remain a contender to make their first NBA Finals in more than two decades.<\/p>\n

If they do so, however, they must keep the entirety of their core intact around superstar Jalen Brunson<\/a>. One of the team\u2019s most reliable players has been OG Anunoby<\/a>, now in his third season with New York after being traded from the Toronto Raptors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old forward remains a force on both ends of the floor, frequently taking the toughest defensive assignment while still making an impact offensively.<\/p>\n

Through 66 games, Anunoby has averaged 16.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 48.5% from the field and 38.9% from 3-point range.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, during New York\u2019s game on Friday against the Raptors, Anunoby\u2019s final team, he suffered an injury. Anunoby started the game and played 15 minutes during the first half, collecting two points, five rebounds and three assists.<\/p>\n

However, he did not appear for the second half, and Landry Shamet took his place in the starting five. Moments later, the Knicks announced a disappointing update on his status. \u201cOG Anunoby (left ankle) is out for the remainder of the game,\u201d the team wrote on X.<\/p>\n

It is unclear how severe the injury is, but given New York has nothing left to play for until the postseason, he will likely be held out for the team\u2019s final regular-season game on Sunday against the Charlotte Hornets<\/a>, which would be Anunoby\u2019s next chance to return.<\/p>\n

Without Anunoby, the Knicks depth would be severely tested and it would significantly limit their ceiling, so the hope is that it is not too serious. It is unclear when he suffered the injury or whether it was bothering him during the first half.<\/p>\n

With the playoffs approaching, the Knicks can only hope this proves to be a minor setback rather than a disruption to their postseason plans.<\/p>\n
