Cal lost the son<\/a> of one basketball Hall of Famer to the transfer portal but found another<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jake Wilkins, son of Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins<\/a>, announced through his agent on Saturday that he has committed to play for Mark Madsen at Cal after spending last season at Georgia.<\/p>\n

The younger Wilkins is a 6-foot-9 forward. He averaged 4.9 points and 1.8 rebounds as a freshman this past season, appearing in 32 games without a start for his dad\u2019s alma mater.<\/p>\n

His decision to play for Cal comes in the same week that Justin Pippen, son of basketball Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, announced that he will play at Ohio State next season.<\/p>\n

Pippen averaged averaged 14.2 points and 4.6 assists per game in his only season at Cal after transferring from Michigan.<\/p>\n

Wilkins was a four-star recruit out of high school, according to 247Sports.<\/p>\n

In his July 2024 evaluation<\/a> on 247Sports, CBS director of basketball scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote that \u201cWilkins is a budding big wing with extreme athleticism and a ton of long-term potential. He runs the floor with long, bouncy strides and plays above the rim like few others in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s extremely quick off his feet, able to play up at the top of the box, and also contort his body in mid-air.
